Listening for Angels: Recognizing the Presence of Angels in Spiritual Direction

In this session, we will explore the qualities traditionally associated with angels and reflect on how these celestial beings may have manifested in our own lives. Together, we will consider how to listen for the subtle presence of angels in the stories and experiences shared by our directees during spiritual direction. This workshop is designed to deepen our awareness of the spiritual realm and cultivate attentiveness to angelic guidance for us and those we accompany in direction.

While this is not a formal book discussion, participants may find it helpful to read Angels: A History by Peter Stanford to enrich their understanding.

About the Presenter: 

Steve Bruce graduated from the Art of Spiritual Direction program at the Center for Spiritual Development in 2005. He is a spiritual director and supervisor and has been on the adjunct faculty of the Center for Spiritual Development in Orange, CA, for 17 years, teaching spiritual direction and mentoring in the Art of Spiritual Direction program. He has organized workshops on men's spirituality at CSD and has led retreats, most recently for the spouses of Episcopal clergy in West Missouri.
