This year mark’s the 50th anniversary of Vatican II (October 11, 1962 – December 8,
1965), a council many believe to be one of the most transformative in the church’s history. During Vatican II, Pope John XXIII wanted the church to engage and learn from all the best that the world had to offer; to become truly ecumenical, welcoming and embracing all believers in Christ; and to become an advocate and companion with the poor. To mark the anniversary and honor “Good Pope John’s” deep desires, the Center is offering a Two Part Series - the first in the spring of 2012 and the second in the fall of 2012. Part One of the Series will focus on the core constitutions of the council as listed below and Part Two (TBA) will examine various important decrees and declarations. Attendance at Part One is not essential to attendance at Part Two.

Series One:

Week 1: (Feb. 7): Historical, theological and social context for Vatican II.
Week 2: (Feb. 14): Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World and Dogmatic Constitution on the Church.
Week 3: (Feb. 21): Continuation of above
Week 4: (Feb. 28): Week 4: Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation
Week 5: (Mar. 6): Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy
Week 6: (Mar. 13): Synopsis and personal response

Come and join us as together we explore the graces received and the possibilities yet
to come as a result of Vatican II.
